As part of my hobby, I have created several custom maps for the original Star Wars Battlefront (2004). These maps are all designed to accurately honour their film counterparts as much as possible, while providing a satisfying gameplay experience.
Hoth: Battle of Echo Base is a reimagining of the battle seen in The Empire Strikes Back. I was always unsatisfied with the low detail of the original map, and so I strived to create a map that played well but also carried more of the film version. The interior system was devised as a modular system as opposed to a building broken up into parts.
The Invisible Hand is a brand-new map of a location not seen in the original Battlefront games: the Separatist Flagship boarded by the heroes at the beginning of the film. Because of the nature of the game, I had to carefully select which areas to include to keep the map size within reason. I took some inspiration from various game iterations of the ship, such as the official Revenge of the Sith game, and DICE's Star Wars Battlefront II. As with Hoth, the map's 'buildings' are modular: should I wish to, I could create a different map layout using these modules.
Scarif: Beaches is a remake of DICE's Scarif map from Star Wars Battlefront, with some changes influenced by Rogue One, such as the presence of vehicles not present in DICE's version of the map. While the map's core assets are open-source by their creator, I did create several new assets for the map, including the containers, large silos, lighting poles, bushes, and TIE landing platform. Also visible is the TIE Striker model I built.
